2024 T&FN Olympic Prediction Contest Winner

Gene Hazel of Tampa, Florida, won the top prize in T&FN’s 2024 Olympic Prediction Contest.

Gene, a T&FN subscriber since 1968, and a former tour prediction contest winner, correctly picked 85 medalists (out of a possible 132, or 64.4%) and won comfortably. Second place, astonishingly, was the T&FN Formchart (!), tied with David Donley of Fort Worth, TX and Mark Steinberg of Eugene, OR (81 correct picks). It was the best showing ever for the formchart, and we are feeling very smart. Donley gets the second place award on the tie breaker, and Steinberg is our bronze medalist. Tom Feuer had 80, Birger Fogelberg (Sweden) had 79 1/2, and ten had 79: Paul Ahnberg, Jesse Schoen, Jonathan Berenbom, Gregory Adams, Jed Brickner, Peter Thorrington, Yoshiaki Oikawa (Japan), David Vickers, Jan Nyberg (Sweden) and Jeff Bohnen.

The Most Winners contest was won by Ivan Sonck of Asse, Belgium. He and David Donley each picked 29 winners, but Donley has already won a prize and is not eligible for another as per contest rules.

Hazel won $1000, Donley $500, Steinberg $250, and Sonck $400.
