Diamondbacks vs. Phillies Game 1 odds, props, predictions & NLCS series price: Philly favored
The Philadelphia Phillies have done it again, upsetting the Atlanta Braves in the NLDS to make it their second straight NLCS. They meet the upstart Arizona Diamondbacks next, as Philadelphia looks to return to the World Series for the second straight season.
Here, we look at odds, props, and predictions for Diamondbacks vs. Phillies Game 1 and the series price at sportsbooks for this NLCS.
The Diamondbacks looked in full control in their series sweep over the Los Angeles Dodgers. Only one loss occurred between these two teams during the playoffs in this series.
Now, one of the Diamondbacks and Phillies will lose four games while the other team will advance with an opportunity to win a World Series.
Game 1 will be played in Philadelphia on Monday, Oct. 16, at Citizens Bank Park. The Diamondbacks and the Phillies will have at least three full days of rest for their pitching staffs, meaning the rotation for each team will be able to reset, and they will be able to go with their preferred starters in each game of the series.

Arizona Diamondbacks betting news
The Diamondbacks’ hitting has been average to excellent throughout the 2023 postseason. Arizona’s pitching has been solid, especially in their series against a dangerous Los Angeles Dodgers lineup. The Diamondbacks’ pitching staff never gave up more than two runs in any game of their NLDS sweep.
While the Arizona pitching staff may not be made up of Cy Young candidates or pitchers you would expect to start the MLB All-Star Game, they have pitched well and been backed up by an excellent outing after an excellent outing from their bullpen.
In 20.1 innings pitched by their bullpen in the playoffs, relievers have only allowed four total runs.
It will be interesting to see who the Diamondbacks use as their No. 4 starter, as this will be the first time all playoffs they’ll be required to use one. The Diamondbacks will use one of Zac Gallen, Brandon Pfaadt, or Merrill Kelly in Game 1.
The only other starter on the NLDS was Ryne Nelson, so barring a roster change between series, he would be the assumed 4th starter.
Philadelphia Phillies betting news
Where to start with the Phillies?
Philadelphia has been excellent at hitting and pitching, and the bullpen has been lockdown in almost every appearance. The Phillies stars have shown up with timely hitting and momentum-swing home runs. Trea Turner has two home runs, Nick Castellanos has four, and Bryce Harper has three.
While the pitching from starter to bullpen has been fantastic. The top three Phillies starters have ERAs are all under 2.08. The bullpen has been even better, as the bullpen era in the playoffs is 1.67.
Like Arizona, though, the Phillies will have to use a fourth starter for the first time in the playoffs.
The Phillies had three other starters outside Suarez, Nola, and Wheeler. That includes Taijuan Walker, Christopher Sanchez, and Michael Lorenzen. Only Lorenzen has pitched in the playoffs so far, so it’s anyone’s guess who will be the fourth starter.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Philadelphia Phillies prediction: Phillies’ hot bats stay smoking in Game 1
The series has one big question mark that could decide who has the leg up.
That is whether Phillies star Bryce Harper is going to be 100%. Everyone saw the collision at the end of the NLDS, with Harper writhing in pain, holding his surgically repaired arm.
Harper joked after the game that he hit his funny bone, but I promise you this: no Phillies fans were laughing. Harper did not hit again, as he did not come up in the lineup after the injury scare. The good news was he did come out for the 9th inning to finish the game.
If anything came out about Harper being less than 100%, watch the live odds for the series. They would get much closer to even or even have the Diamondbacks become the favorite.
Philadelphia definitely has the leg up in this series on paper from a pure talent perspective. Yet the Diamondbacks playoff run has somewhat of a magic feeling, so don’t be surprised if Arizona pushes the Phillies to the brink or even pulls off the upset.
