Ex-Liverpool star opens up on Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk contracts amid Saudi Pro League reports
As Liverpool fans anxiously await news on Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk’s futures, their former teammate Fabinho has shared his views, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the players’ futures.
Both Salah and Van Dijk have been central to Liverpool’s success, but with their contracts set to expire at the end of the season, speculation about their next moves — amid links to Saudi Arabia — continues to grow.
Fabinho, who left Liverpool for Saudi Arabia in 2023, expressed his thoughts on the situation during a recent interview.

“I haven’t talked to them lately,” he said. “I know that some players like Mo, Virgil, and Trent are at the end of their contract, and I think Liverpool are desperate to get them a new contract, but it’s not my problem any more!”
The Brazilian midfielder, now with Al-Ittihad, joins a growing list of ex-Liverpool stars who have opted for Saudi clubs, including Roberto Firmino, Jordan Henderson, and Sadio Mane.
With the Saudi Pro League’s ambitious recruitment drive and the reported high interest in Salah, particularly from Al-Ittihad, the rumours around Liverpool’s stars have only intensified.
Losing Salah, Van Dijk, and potentially Trent Alexander-Arnold all at once would be a massive blow for Liverpool, both on and off the field. While Fabinho didn’t reveal any direct updates on his former teammates, his comments hint at Liverpool’s strong desire to keep their core intact.
Suporters will now face an anxious wait to see if the club can retain these essential players, or if the allure of new challenges elsewhere, especially in Saudi Arabia, will prove too strong.
