Fever playoff picture: Updated WNBA standings, clinching scenarios for Caitlin Clark, Indiana
The Fever entered the 2025 season with hopes of a lengthy postseason run. That doesn’t seem likely to come to pass at present, especially as injuries have chipped away at Indiana’s depth.
Caitlin Clark has been the most noteworthy absence in Indianapolis. The second-year guard has played in just 13 games this season, beset by injuries to her groin, quad, and ankle. She’s been joined on the sidelines by Sophie Cunningham (torn MCL), Aari McDonald (broken foot), and Sydney Colson (torn ACL).
While a playoff berth still appears likely, it isn’t guaranteed for Stephanie White’s team. And even if they do secure postseason qualification, the Fever will likely face a powerhouse squad in the first round.

The Fever find themselves clinging to a postseason berth with seven games left in the regular season. Indiana holds the eighth seed, sitting two games above the ninth-seeded Sparks.
Indiana has been treading water in the weeks since Clark went down with her latest groin injury. Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell have taken their production to new heights, with Mitchell averaging 23.3 points and 5.0 assists in her past 10 games. Boston, meanwhile, has played every game this season and is an All-WNBA candidate.
Los Angeles has looked much improved since the All-Star break, winning nine of its last 13 contests. The Fever have plenty more to do to lock up their second postseason appearance in as many seasons. With Clark’s status uncertain, Boston and Mitchell have their work cut out for them if they want to push Indiana to postseason play.

Indiana Fever playoff scenarios 2025
With just seven games left in its regular-season slate, Indiana can place no higher than fifth in the postseason standings. White’s squad sits 0.5 games back of sixth-seeded Seattle and is behind seventh-seeded Golden State based on head-to-head record.
The Fever hold the tiebreaker over the Storm, having bested them twice this season. The Sparks remain in the hunt, sitting one game back of Indiana and the Valkyries with two games in hand on both sides. Los Angeles and Indiana will meet on Aug. 29 at Crypto.com Arena, with the Fever needing a win to even up their season series at two victories apiece.
Who will the Indiana Fever face in the playoffs?
If the season ended today, Indiana would face off with the No. 1-seeded Lynx (30-7). Minnesota has won each of its two matchups with the Fever thus far and possesses the presumptive MVP favorite, Napheesa Collier. The Lynx also boast star tactician Cheryl Reeve and All-Star caliber talent in Courtney Williams, Alanna Smith, and Kayla McBride.
