Is Anthony Joshua’s replacement opponent better for boxing than Fury fighting Ngannou?

Anthony Joshua can’t catch a break.

The former heavyweight world champion was set to face Dillian Whyte on Saturday, August 12 at London’s O2 Arena, but a failed drug test from Whyte has forced DAZN and Matchroom to cancel the rematch bout.

This is the second consecutive UK PPV event Matchroom and DAZN have had to scrap due to a positive PED test. In October 2022, Conor Benn tested positive for a banned substance just days before his clash with Chris Eubank Jr. in the O2 Arena, forcing Matchroom to cancel the entire event.

A.J. will still fight, however. Only now he will face an even less exciting opponent in Robert Helenius in his latest attempt to climb back up the heavyweight ranks. But given the current state of heavyweight boxing — is Helenius still a better opponent than Tyson Fury’s pick in Francis Ngannou?

Fight Disciples host Nick Peet is joined by comedian, podcaster and Fight Disciples OG Rob Beckett to trawl through another disappointing week from the boxing ring. They also discuss Conor Benn’s UKAD suspension lift and Emanuel Navarrete’s defense of his world title against — yep, you guessed it — another convicted drug cheat in Oscar Valdez.

Anthony Joshua will fight Robert Helenius on Saturday, August 12 in London’s O2 Arena live on DAZN.
