Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown pass play to Jared Goff has an awesome name
The Detroit Lions had a few memorable plays during their Week 4 win over the Seattle Seahawks on Monday night, but none was more memorable than the touchdown pass from Amon-Ra St. Brown to Jared Goff.
In the third quarter, the Lions had a one-score lead over the Seahawks and had the ball at the seven-yard line after driving down the length of the field from their 30-yard line.
The Lions then called a play that first looked like a reverse, but St. Brown stopped, turned to his left, and dropped a pass right in the bucket to Goff, who was running toward the end zone.

After the game, St. Brown revealed that the pass play to Goff is called “Alcatraz,” per Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News. Goff added that the play has been in the playbook for years and he thinks the team has called it before.
“I think we actually have called it in a game before, and then if it’s not the right look, I get out of it,” Goff said. “But that was the right look.”
That wasn’t the only fantastic play the Lions pulled off on Monday night, as the team also saw running back David Montgomery absolutely steamroll Seahawks defenders on an incredible 40-yard catch and run that showed his legendary toughness.
All in all, it was a sensational night for the Lions’ offense, which had those two plays and several others en route to dropping a season-high 42 points against a Seahawks defense that had given up 43 over its first three games.
After finally exercising their demons against the Seahawks, the Lions will get a bye in Week 5 before a Week 6 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
