Mikel Arteta highlights key reason for Arsenal’s form struggles

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has opened up on the Gunners form issues after their 1-1 Premier League draw with Chelsea.

Arteta’s charges were held to a draw at Stamford Bridge as their winless league run stretched on to four games as part of a poor run across all competitions.

Gabriel Martinelli fired Arsenal in front in West London, but Pedro Neto’s first EPL goal for the Blues sealed a draw, as the spoils were shared.

Arteta was firm in his assessment of the result and how it is impacting his team with his players failing to score in the two games prior to their draw at Chelsea.

The latest Opta data puts Arsenal below the 5% title win threshold, as Liverpool move into the November international break with a five-point lead at the summit, and Arteta admitted a blunt cutting edge is hurting his team.

“The team reacted in a way that was fabulous with the desire to win, to show initiative, take risks and be dominant but we didn’t manage to score the winning goal”, he said.

“We were very unlucky. We’ve dominated one of the best teams in Europe, but we don’t get the results. That’s what is missing.”

Arteta’s message speaks to Arsenal’s issues in front of goal with just 18 goals scored from 11 games – below Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea.

The majority of Arteta’s squad will now head away on international duty, for the final FIFA window of 2024, with Arsenal back in action at home to Nottingham Forest on November 23
