Phillies vs. Diamondbacks live score, updates, highlights from Game 6 of 2023 NLCS
It was fair to doubt whether the NLCS would even make it back to Philadelphia when the Phillies took the first two games of the series, but the Diamondbacks showed serious fight in front of their home fans. Do they have anything left in the tank?
If Aaron Nola pitches the way he’s been pitching this October, Monday night’s Game 6 could be a coronation for the Phillies. Philadelphia finds itself one win away from a second consecutive trip to the World Series and a potential rematch with the Astros.
The Phillies got back on track in Game 5 on Saturday, snapping a two-game skid behind an excellent performance by Zack Wheeler. More importantly, Philadelphia’s power returned. Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber and J.T. Realmuto all homered in the win, reigniting an offense that hit some bumps in the first two games at Chase Field.
A win on Monday would give the Phillies back-to-back pennants for the first time since 2008 and 2009. The franchise captured a championship in 2008 before falling short a year later. This time, the Phillies are hoping the second time is the charm after they came up two wins short a year ago. They still need one more victory just to get that chance, though.
