Two of European football’s most iconic sides do battle at Estádio do Dragão on matchday two of the UEFA Champions League campaign, as Porto welcome Barcelona.
Both clubs enjoyed a winning start to their respective campaigns two weeks ago as Porto ran out 3-1 victors over Shakhtar Donetsk, while Barcelona thumped Royal Antwerp 5-0.
That means that this clash takes on added significance with both sides knowing that another three point haul would greatly enhance their chances of making it through to the knockout stages of the competition.
Barcelona are the reigning La Liga champions and have made an unbeaten start to this season both domestically and in Europe, but can they topple the Portuguese giants on Wednesday? The Sporting News takes a detailed look.

Porto vs Barcelona best bet
- Pick: Porto over 2.5 cards
- Odds: -120 (FanDuel)
When the pressure was on last time in huge league clash with Benfica, Porto crumbled to a 1-0 loss to their fierce rivals and as expected, the cards were dished out.
Fabio Cardoso received a red card and Porto racked up an additional five yellows in a match that brought the heat. We’re expecting them to receive over 2.5 cards again here as they look to cope with Barcleona’s pace and skilful players across the park.
So far this season, the hosts have picked up 26 yellow cards in their domestic league – the most of any side – while on matchday one against Shakhtar they also picked up two which gives this selection a real chance of coming in.
Porto vs Barcelona flier bet
- Pick: Joao Felix to score first
- Odds: +600 (BetMGM)
Another a somewhat failed loan spell with Premier League side Chelsea last season, Portuguese star Joao Felix has seemingly now found a home at Barcelona after joining the club from divisional rivals Atletico Madrid on loan for the season.
Since then, Felix has produced numerous impressive displays, grabbing five goal contributions in six competitive outings for the Catalan giants.
Three of those have come in the form of goals with two being netted on his European debut for Barca, when he bagged a brace versus Royal Antwerp on matchday one. He also rounded out that display with an assist and, given both his current form and the fact that he’s struck the opener in both his goalscoring appearances for his new club this season, we’re expecting the same again here.
