PSG vs Nice prediction, odds, betting tips and best bets for Kylian Mbappe in Ligue 1 match

After draws in their first two matches of the season, Paris Saint-Germain have turned things around emphatically and have reinstalled themselves as clear Ligue 1 title contenders as they host Nice at Parc des Princes on Friday.

Kylian Mbappe has four goals in their past two games, both wins, and he has been re-embraced by the PSG faithful in what is likely to be his final season in Paris.

Nice are unbeaten through their first four matches, but they’ve only won one, beating Strasbourg last time out following draws with Lille, Lorient, and even a struggling Lyon.

While Nice aren’t an overwhelming attacking side and haven’t finished chances well, they do remain one of the better defensively organized clubs in Ligue 1 through the early going — an extension of last season when they conceded the second-fewest goals in the French top flight.

PSG vs Nice prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: PSG (-200)
  • Score prediction: PSG 2-0 Nice

Nice have managed to pick up a few results of late against PSG, but historically they have struggled mightily in this fixture. Prior to their 1-0 home win in March of 2022, it had been a decade since Nice last won against PSG in league play.

With Mbappe in good form and Nice not yet managing to produce a truly inspiring result, it’s hard to see an upset being sprung here.

PSG vs Nice: best bet

  • Pick: Under 2.5 goals
  • Odds: +130 (BetMGM)

While it’s always possible that Mbappe engineers an attacking onslaught, in all likelihood Nice will manage to keep a lid on this match. Four of the previous five meetings between these clubs have gone under the total, with the lone outlier being a 2-1 PSG win in October 2022, which required an 83rd-minute winner from Mbappe.

Nice are an improved attacking side this year but have struggled to finish chances. Everyone in the forward unit has managed to provide an attacking threat, but very few have managed to finish their opportunities.

Mbappe’s return to the fold has re-energised the PSG front line, but Goncalo Ramos has struggled to get involved so far and Ousmane Dembele is still getting his feet under him, as neither have yet logged a goal contribution to this point.

PSG vs Nice prop bet

  • Pick: Both teams to score — NO
  • Odds: +100 (BetMGM)

PSG have played a bit of an open style through their first four games, leading to a few chances for opposition forwards, but in truth this team has a stout defensive unit that will pull it together soon.

The arrival of Milan Skriniar to partner Marquinhos givens them a strong centre-back pairing, and Lucas Hernandez joining to play opposite Achraf Hakimi marks a positive addition as well. To top it all off, Manuel Ugarte has also enjoyed a bright start to life as PSG’s new No. 6.

Against a Nice side that provides only a mediocre attacking threat, it’s likely that Gianluigi Donnarumma can manage to keep a clean sheet here. Even if PSG do manage to run up their own tally, even-money odds provide good value on this selection.
