Real Madrid vs. Getafe lineups, expected starting 11, confirmed team news, injuries: Ancelotti sweats over key trio’s fitness
Real Madrid will hope to quickly put their shaky defence of their Champions League so far in the rear view mirror when they host Getafe in La Liga on Sunday.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are in serious danger of failing to advance from the inaugural ‘League Stage’ of the new-look UCL format, following a 2-0 loss at Liverpool midweek.
However, their previous crisis on the domestic front could be turning around. A 4-0 home defeat in El Clasico to Barcelona saw the Catalonians sit six points clear atop the La Liga table, but that gap is now four points plus a game in hand for Los Blancos.
That means a win for Real here against their 15th-placed city rivals and a slip-up from Hansi Flick’s side against Las Palmas would potentially make things very tight once again.

Real Madrid vs. Getafe lineups, predicted starting 11, team news
Carlo Ancelotti will be hoping to have both Aurelien Tchouameni and Rodrygo back for the all-Madrid clash.
The French midfielder hurt his ankle against AC Milan a month ago, but could be ready to return on Sunday, as is the Brazilian forward who suffered a muscle tweak prior to the international break.
However, Real’s injury woes could deepen following reports that key trio Jude Bellingham, Kylian Mbappe and Brahim Diaz will all have late fitness tests in the wake of the defeat at Anfield.
On Friday El Chiringuito reported that all three are expected to be fit to play, and we await the final confirmation either way on matchday.
Eduardo Camavinga is a certain loss, with the Frenchman hurting his hamstring against Liverpool and looking at a few weeks on the shelf.
Dani Carvajal and Eder Militao remain out for the season, David Alaba’s knee issues are keeping him out indefinitely, and Ballon d’Or nominee Vinicius Jr. is not expected to return in time from the knock that prevented him from playing midweek.
Real Madrid predicted XI (4-3-3, right to left): Courtois — Vazquez, Asencio, Rudiger, Fran Garcia — Valverde, Ceballos, Bellingham — Guler, Mbappe, Brahim Diaz
Injured: Carvajal, Militao, Alaba (all ACL), Vinicius Jr. (muscle), Camavinga (hamstring)
Suspended: None
Getafe coach Jose Bordalas, meanwhile, is waiting for a final verdict on the fitness of former Real Madrid attacker Borja Mayoral for the trip to the Bernabeu as the injury-plagued 27-year-old battles to shake off a muscular injury.
Mayoral may at the very least feature from the bench, unlike ex-Barcelona midfielder Carles Alena who will definitely miss the match with a muscle issue of his own.
Djene and Bertug Yildirim, meanwhile, will both miss out due to suspension.
Getafe predicted XI (4-4-2, right to left): David Soria — Nyom, Duarte, Alderete, Rico — Sola, Arambarri, Milla, Perez — Alvaro Rodriguez, Uche
Injured: Alena (muscle)
Suspended: Djene, Betug Yildirim
