Sherrone Moore receives good Michigan football news from Joel Klatt amid self-suspension

The Michigan Wolverines have lofty expectations entering the 2025 season, which include potentially pulling the trigger by starting true freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood from the jump.

There is a lot to be excited about in Ann Arbor, and it has begun to rub off on Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt while revealing his way-too-early top 25.

“Now here’s why I believe in Michigan,” Klatt said on a recent episode of his show. “Last year, they beat USC, they beat Ohio State, they beat Alabama. And in those games, you know what? Their offense did virtually nothing, virtually nothing. And specifically in that game against Alabama, remember all the guys that were going to the draft weren’t playing in that game. So they stopped Jalen Milroe and Alabama basically with the group of guys that are going to be playing this year. Wink Martindale figured it out.”

Coach Sherrone Moore ended last season on a high note as the Wolverines upset Alabama to end their season with eight wins despite a multitude of quarterback issues and difficult losses throughout the season’s middle portion, most notably coming against Washington and Illinois.

“Finishing on a strong note was huge for us and will build great momentum going into the off-season,” Moore told reporters after the win, via Big Blue By Ninety “We feel like we’ve got a bright future the way we’re recruiting, the guys we’re bringing in, the guys we’re keeping, to make sure that this Michigan is the best version of Michigan that it can be, and that’s all we’re going to worry about. When we get to winter workouts, that’s the first cycle we’ve got.”

The Wolverines have pressed hard since then this off-season to build the team in Moore’s image, a critical aspect of this year’s team.

“We’re going to attack that as much as we can and get better there, and then we’ll go in the spring, we’ll go in the summer and we’ll go into fall camp and then we’ll work to what that final piece will look like after fall camp.”

Although Moore will miss two games after a self-imposed suspension was recently revealed, it isn’t an afterthought to suggest the Wolverines can’t be contenders all season.

They can, and given various uncertainties surrounding Oregon and Ohio State, November and December should make for an interesting conference championship race.
