UFC 297 PPV price: How much does it cost to watch Sean Strickland vs. Dricus du Plessis?

Dricus du Plessis is the latest of the new generation of fighters to compete inside the octagon. The South African is ready to start 2024 by beating Sean Strickland for the UFC middleweight title at UFC 297 on January 20. The fight airs on ESPN+ PPV in the U.S.

A kickboxer, Du Plessis won the W.A.K.O. Cadet World Championships in 2012. Turning pro in 2013, he is a former EFC welterweight and middleweight champion and won the KSW welterweight title in 2018. Joining the UFC in 2020, Du Plessis is 6-0 with the promotion, with his last contest being a TKO win against former champion Robert Whittaker in July.

Vying for a title for a long time, first, when Israel Adesanya was champion and now with Strickland, Du Plessis is ready to show the world his fight style has adapted well to the unpredictable world of mixed martial arts.

“January 20 is the start of a new era,” Du Plessis told the UFC. “I am coming through as a youngster. I started this sport very young, and I’m very new in the UFC. It has been mentioned about my weird style, but I think this is a new era of a new style that is born. You look at the guys fighting at UFC 1 versus the guys fighting now and how the sport has developed; I think I am the next step in that evolution, and I hope my reign will bring the best out in any fighter in the world.”

Strickland is a former King of the Cage middleweight champion and is 14-5 since entering the octagon in 2014. The American has headlined several APEX shows in Las Vegas and proved his value when he won a one-sided contest against Adesanya in September to win the UFC middleweight title. Going 3-0 in 2023, Strickland is looking to continue his streak in what could be a lucrative 2024.
