UFC Singapore full card results as Max Holloway defeats The Korean Zombie with third-round KO

From 2016 to 2019, Max Holloway held a firm grip on the UFC’s featherweight division. Now, “Blessed” is on the outside looking in with Alexander Volkanovski as featherweight champion. An extended win streak could bring Holloway back to the top, but he needed to get past The Korean Zombie in Singapore on August 26 first.

Representing Hawaii, Holloway came into UFC Singapore with a heavy heart. The former featherweight champion was away while his country has been dealing with wild fires. Holloway did all he could to must up enough strength to continue fighting, and he did so in grand fashion at the expense of The Korean Zombie.

In Singapore Indoor Stadium, Holloway and Zombie exchanged blows in a competitive opening two rounds before the man from Waianae landed a ferocious right-hand counter that left his opponent on the floor.

Holloway celebrated briefly before checking on his opponent, and the two shared an embrace. The Korean Zombie was emotional as he left the ring to salute the cheering crowd. It would seem his fighting days have come to an end.

“I’m going to stop fighting,” he said ringside via a translator. “I’ve always aimed to be a champion, I’m not here to just be ranked third, fourth, or fifth. I trained hard for Max Holloway, I really thought I could beat him. But I really think I’m going to stop fighting now.”

Holloway has now won two in a row and is 4-1 in his last five. He looks to return to title contention against Volkanovski, who he is already 0-3 against. The Korean Zombie is now on a two-fight losing streak and 1-3 in his last four bouts.

The Sporting News has results from the full UFC Singapore fight card.
